After nearly 8 years at the helm, Gwilym Gibbons has announced that he will step down from his role as Chief Executive of The Crichton Trust in May 2026 to embark on a new role as Chief Executive of Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh’s Science Centre and Planetarium.

The Crichton Trust joins 200 businesses and community spaces in the region registered since the Scottish Government scheme was first launched in Dumfries and Galloway in 2022 by the local NHS Infant Feeding Team.

As winter settles over Dumfries and the year winds to a close, the award-winning Mostly Ghostly team are preparing to deliver their final Crichton Crypt Tour of 2025 on Tuesday 16th December.

We were delighted to welcome the Dumfries and Galloway Life Awards back to The Crichton last week with their 15th annual ceremony, held at Easterbrook Hall.

The November Lecture from The Arts Society Dumfries and Galloway (TASDAG) will reflect a source of inspiration which has made a unique and priceless contribution to cultural life in Britain for almost a century.  

We’re excited to announce that The Crichton Trust has secured almost £250,000 in funding from the CARES Community Energy Generation Growth Fund to kickstart the development of an innovative energy initiative across our 85-acre estate in Dumfries and explore how we can share the energy we generate with our neighbours.
