Innovation at the Crichton
The Crichton has always been at the cutting edge of innovation since its inception in 1839, and the site continues to deliver in this area through a number of specific activities; that of being a unique multi-institution campus, working with business and academic partners. Innovation is part of what we do and we welcome other to come and use our unique rural location as a test bed for your ideas and investions.
Our goals look to address the big challenges of our time; we’re working towards achieving Net Zero and addressing the underpinning issues of an aging population and technological advancement.
The Estate is home to five educational institutions which operate alongside over 150 other private, public and Third Sector organisations, presenting unrivalled opportunities for wider collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Academic Partners
The Crichton Campus Leadership Group (CCLG) is made up of the following academic partners and has a remit for enhancing and sustaining the academic campus at The Crichton and in supporting the student and academic population based here. The partnership group was set up in 2013 to help facilitate a shared understanding of the education, skills and training needs of Dumfries & Galloway.
The group celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2023, and released a new statement of ambition which will focus on four priority areas:
- Sustaining and growing equitable and accessible learning opportunities
- Student experience
- Increasing research capacity and knowledge exchange
- Business innovation and collaboration
