The Crichton Arboretum

Our grounds recently featured in Essential Arb December 2024 issue, and we are so pleased to have such a great article written about our Estate, its rich history and our wonderful trees.

The staff featured in this article are two of our team of four who managed all the Estate grounds, trees, bed and the historic rock garden, so credit to them for all this hard work.

The article picks up on some of the rare gems that are dotted across the Estate, making the Estate’s historic botanical collection of trees a rarity.  For example, a rare Monterey Pine (Pinus Radiata) which normally thrives in warmer climates in the UK only – the south and south west of England, but we have a wonderful specimen here on site! Also Davidia involucrata – or as many of you know it, the handkerchief tree with its amazing white leaves that float in the spring breezes.

If you want to know more about our ‘Arboretum’ please just ask, and you can also pick up and follow our ‘Tree Trail’ also noted in the article. Happy Wanderings!
