Anna Austin
TrusteeAs Estate Manager for Caerlaverock Estate, a neighbour of the Crichton, Anna has a particular interest in the sustainable use and management of land and property.
At Caerlaverock she champions impactful restoration and retention of natural habitat for the area’s wildlife, alongside a forward-looking approach to water management. Recognising the region’s unique capability to grow exceptionally high quality, and nutrient rich produce, Anna is also passionate about ensuring sustainable and commercially viable food production through responsible agricultural practices.
Anna has a personal interest in property and much of her time, currently, is spent learning about how best to improve the efficiency of older homes in a cost-effective way, so that they are fit for future living.
Having grown up on her family’s farm near Kirkcudbright, Anna left the region to study. She practiced as a commercial and regulatory lawyer for ten years in private practice and within the whisky industry. Following completion of an MBA, Anna worked in a commercially focused role in wooden cask and spirit procurement, before moving into the world of land management.
Anna lives in Kirkcudbright with her partner Mark. They enjoy good food, good music and socialising with friends and family. Keeping fit is important and in 2022 Anna ran her first (and likely last!) marathon.
