QUEEN’S BATON RELAY IN D&G
The Queen’s Baton Relay arrived in Dumfries and Galloway on the 22nd June, as part of a five-day tour of Scotland ahead of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in July.
This is the 16th year of the Queen’s Baton Relay, which aims to celebrate, connect and excite communities in the build up to the Commonwealth Games.
There was certainly lots of excitement today for local baton bearer, Rosemary Lenton and her friends and family. Rosemary, from Dumfries, will make her Commonwealth Games debut for Team Scotland at Birmingham 2022 in lawn bowls.
Rosemary plays on site at The Crichton Royal Bowling Club and has represented Scotland at three World Bowls Championships, winning silver in the Mixed Pairs in New Zealand in 2015. Rosemary also plays Wheelchair Curling and has competed in nine World Championships!
Well done Rosemary and all the best representing Team Scotland in Birmingham. Team Crichton will be cheering you on!
Our thanks to Kate Thomson QPM, Trustee and Vice Chair of The Crichton Trust Board, who represented The Crichton Trust at the event and who is seen above with Team Scotland cyclist Jenny Holl and Team GB para cyclist Fin Graham, representing UCI Cycling World Championships, which is scheduled to take place in Glasgow in 2023.
