Parkinson’s Awareness Day at The Crichton – 11th April 2024

Parkinson’s awareness is more than a day, it’s about bringing attention to a life-changing disease that is on the rise and connecting people to vital resources.

World Parkinson’s Day is an opportunity to support the community. To raise their voices. To share their experiences of living with Parkinson’s. And to use Parkinson’s UK resources to back and amplify their ideas.

Parkinson’s Awareness Week kicks starts on April 10th, the day before World Parkinson’s Awareness Day, (which falls on the 11th April 2024 each year) and runs until the 16th of April.

As there is no cure for Parkinson’s, this is an annual opportunity to raise awareness and much needed funds to support people with living with the condition, to improve quality of life and to ensure that people live better for longer.

This year in support of this day two establishments will be lighting Blue for Parkinson’s, The Crichton Royal Memorial Church and The Cairndale Hotel here in Dumfries.

There will be collecting can for donations in both Crichton Central and The Bistro, and on the Crichton Estate Positive Steps Physio will be offering free drop in sessions.

Anyone looking for information or access to support locally can get in touch with the Dumfries Branch of Parkinson’s UK here.
