IN THE RUNNING FOR TWO IIP AWARDS

The Crichton Trust is delighted to share news of being shortlisted for two Investors in People Awards (IIP) in 2020.

Gwilym Gibbons, Chief Executive of The Crichton Trust has been shortlisted in the Leader of the Year category, while the Trust has been shortlisted in the Best Newcomer to IIP category.

Over the past two years, The Crichton Trust has been on a journey with IIP and after receiving accreditation in June 2019, committed to an IIP action plan of improvements. We have made significant progress since then and while the coronavirus pandemic has been an ultimate test of leadership and management, we believe our employees have recognised a step-change.

Covid-19 presented significant challenges, but it has ensured we put the health, safety and wellbeing of people at the heart of our decision-making and our values to be bold, compassionate, forward-thinking, inclusive and safe have been brought to life in 2020.

While it has not been easy for anyone, Gwilym Gibbons (CEO), has been highly praised for his sensitive and forward-thinking approach to dealing with the immediate challenges, whilst also taking bold steps to ensure the long-term sustainability of The Crichton and its people.

There has been a clear message about our ambition to build back better and despite being a newcomer to IIP, we are more than aware of the importance of our people and our role in developing, nurturing and supporting them and their wellbeing if we are to build back better together.  We hope we have done enough to convince the judges of our progress as a newcomer!

Gwilym has excelled as a leader during this pandemic, but it is thanks to his pre-Covid strategic planning, that he has been able to adapt to the current situation, while simultaneously revising plans and priorities to ensure the longer-term ambitions of the Trust are still met.

Here at The Crichton, we would love to be recognised as the Best Newcomer in recognition of the work carried out by our team. We also believe Gwilym to be a deserving recipient of the Leadership award and we wish him well in the final!

The results will be announced at a digital awards event at the end of November.
