FULLY MANAGED DESIGN COMPETITION SERVICE: DEADLINE 19 April 2022
The Crichton Trust is inviting detailed proposals and a fee breakdown for a fully serviced and managed architectural design competition to select a team to create an internationally significant home for The Crichton Centre for Memory and Wellbeing. Our proposed carbon-neutral new build, with an estimated project budget of £15m- £18m (to be tested), will be situated in the stunning historic grounds of The Crichton in Dumfries.
The fully managed design competition will seek to appoint a design team for The Crichton Centre for Memory and Wellbeing while meeting all UK public procurement rules.
The competition is required to be substantially completed no later than 30 November 2022.
The contract fee is circa £145,000 which includes an allowance for honorary payments for up to four shortlisted architects to submit fully worked up design proposals. As a minimum the consultancy will deliver the following key areas of work:
- Devise, plan, and deliver a bespoke design competition process substantially completed by 30 November 2022
- Provide client support, including public and stakeholder briefings
- Create competition materials and websites
- Shape media releases and PR strategies for the competition
We are seeking proposals and evidence of a successful track record in fully managed design competition delivery with experience of bringing together national and/or international design teams with local delivery partners.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Monday 19 April, 5pm.
Quotes and proposals will be scored against price (40%), approach and capacity to deliver within tight project deadlines (40%) and track record on comparable competition project delivery (20%).
