FIRST 5G TO 5G HOLOGRAPHIC 3D VIDEO CHAT
The Crichton Trust and partners hosted the first 5G to 5G Holographic 3D Video Chat at The Crichton last week.
It is amazing what can be achieved when you work with partners who have access to the latest holographic technology, the latest Nokia kit and a live 5G testbed site in Dumfries and Glasgow.
Thanks to a recently established partnership, we were able to host the world’s first 5G to 5G holographic 3D video chat demo from Crichton Central in Dumfries and gatecrash a meeting, with Gwilym Gibbons from The Crichton Trust and Graeme Harrold from Nokia, at the University of Glasgow.
Gwilym Gibbons, Chief Executive of The Crichton Trust said: “Within a couple of weeks of our 5G testbed going live at #S5GConnectDumfries we are already starting to see the potential of 5G and inspiring new connections at Crichton Central. Last week we were delighted to work in partnership with The Scotland 5G Centre, Holoxica Limited and Nokia to host the world’s first 5G to 5G holographic 3D video chat demo between colleagues here in Dumfries and colleagues at the Communication, Sensing and Imaging Group at University of Glasgow in Glasgow. This is just a taste of what’s to come and it’s very exciting for the South of Scotland to be part of, and at the forefront of, these technological developments.”
