FAQs
WHAT DO WE NEED TO PAY AS A DEPOSIT?
We take a £500 deposit, which is non-refundable and will be deducted from your final bill.
HOW DO WE GO ABOUT PAYING THE OVERALL BALANCE?
After paying the deposit, the remainder of your final balance is due 1 month prior to the wedding date. More information on this will be given at the time of booking. Any post event charges must be paid 7 days after the wedding.
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO HAVE OUR CEREMONY AT THE CHURCH AND ANOTHER VENUE FOR THE RECEPTION?
You can certainly hold your ceremony at the Crichton, then move on to another venue for the reception. The Crichton Memorial Church holds up to 250 guests.
WHERE CAN WE HAVE OUR RECEPTION AT THE CRICHTON?
There are many options available within the Crichton estate. Easterbrook Hall can hold up to 340 guests, the Duncan Rooms can hold between 30 and 168 guests. You may also wish to use the outdoor grounds and hire a marquee.
CAN WE DECORATE THE VENUE THE DAY BEFORE?
Based on availability, you can book a set up day ahead of your wedding day.
WHEN CAN I HAVE ACCESS TO THE VENUE?
We’re happy to open the venue at 9am so you or the suppliers can come down to set up the spaces.
WHAT TIME CAN OUR RECEPTION RUN UNTIL?
Carriages at midnight. Or you can party the night away and extend to 1am for a late license fee of £250.
CAN CHILDREN ATTEND?
Our venue is a family friendly, and children are welcome to attend your whole day, please be aware that children must be supervised at all times.
DO YOU ALLOW CANDLES IN THE VENUE?
Yes, candles are allowed in all of our venues.
CAN WE USE CONFETTI?
Yes, confetti must be paper or natural dried petal confetti and only used outside.
IS THE VENUE FULLY ACCESSIBLE?
The Crichton estate is fully accessible. Please contact your wedding coordinator for any special requirements.
WILL OUR GUESTS BE ABLE TO PARK NEARBY?
The Crichton estate has plenty of parking for guests and suppliers.
ARE THERE ANY HOTELS NEARBY?
The Holiday Inn Hotel is located inside the Crichton estate, which has 70 bedrooms available. Please contact them directly for room bookings. There are lots of hotel options available in and around Dumfries which we can share with you if required.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN DRINKS & PAY CORKAGE?
We are fully licensed and can provide all the drinks for your wedding. If you have a request for a specific product then we are more than happy to discuss this;
unfortunately we don’t offer the option of corkage on your own drinks.
CAN WE ARRANGE A FOOD TASTING?
Our executive chef is available for food tasting to help you with your menu selection. A small fee will be charged for this service.
CAN WE USE EXTERNAL CATERERS?
We allow external catering to provide for evening food only, i.e. a street food vendor. Your chosen caterers have to provide all staff and equipment needed for service. We do not allow outside caterers to use the kitchens and a pitch fee of £500 will be charged. Power can be supplied.
CAN I BRING MY OWN DECOR OR USE A DÉCOR SUPPLIER?
Couples may bring in their own decorations and The Crichton has a list of approved décor suppliers which we can share with you. Please note that décor must be
collected on the morning after the event.
WHEN DOES THE VENUE NEED TO KNOW MY FINAL NUMBERS?
We need to know final number of guests attending and their food choices one month before the wedding.
