The Post Mortem Live offers students and the general public an insight into the fascinating world of pathology and post mortem.  Lead by award-winning human anatomist Samuel Piri and his clinical team you’ll journey through the human body learning all things anatomy, physiology and pathology. Using VIVIT -the worlds’ only semi-synthetic human cadaver you’ll begin an immersive and interactive post mortem where you’ll examine the body to identify the pinnacle cause of death.

Guided by our expert team you’ll learn how the main organ structures function to keep you alive and what happens when things don’t function normally. You’ll have the chance to undertake technical dissection yourself including a real head specimen, thoracic block and GI tract.

What’s covered?

  • The post mortem process
  • Observation, records & investigative approach
  • External examination
  • Head & neck examination and dissection
  • Thoracic examination and dissection
  • Abdominal examination and dissection
  • Interpreting medical imaging
  • Determining the pinnacle cause of death

“The closest thing you’ll get to a real human body dissection. Unreal”

As seen on BBC, Discovery Channel & Medicplayer. Please ensure you purchase the ticket for either the AM or PM experience you wish to attend and arrive 30 mins prior to register. Our events are delivered in partnership with and promoted by various UK Universities, Student Unions & NHS Trusts. As an official supplier to the NHS and to support ongoing public health protection, our 2022 tour is being held off campus sites at a our network of external function and exhibition spaces. The anatomy used for dissection is not human. The event is open to undergraduate students, non-students and the general public.

The event is recommended for over 18’s. However, 16/17 year olds are welcome with an adult.
