RURAL YOUTH PHONE PHOTOGRAPHERS 2024

Award Winning 14-25 year old’s

Projected Exhibition – Crichton Central – 8th March – 7th April.

Rural Youth Phone Photography Competition

Multi-arts curators TIDESPACE, invited young people aged 14-25 from Dumfries & Galloway to respond to the competition brief PEOPLE + PLACES = HOME

“This competition gives young rural people a visual voice. Using the most accessible and familiar mediums of communicating; phone photography, they are invited to express their perspectives and to tell their own story. As a means to reach new and wider audiences, the Awarded Images – THE RURAL YOUTH PHONE PHOTOGRAPHERS 2024 – can be seen via multiple, accessible platforms,” Jessica Chaney, Tidespace.

Dumfries & Galloway based award winning photographer judges said:
We were delighted to work with Tidespace, this is an excellent platform and opportunity for young people to use photography to consider their relationship to Dumfries and Galloway, the region they call home. We were amazed with the  quality and diversity of images submitted. It’s clear that there is an array of talented young people in the region and it was a joy viewing their images. We hope more opportunities like this are created to provide a platform for young people’s creativity to be celebrated”  Coulson+Tennant

It’s always a privilege to work on projects that engage younger audiences. But that grows exponentially when the sheer enthusiasm is apparent in both the number of entries and the quality of the work. It becomes infectious. There are some fantastic and unique perspectives and many entries could have taken the top slot. Well done to all those who took part.” Leeming+Paterson
