Looking for Shakespeare’s Portrait by Peter Ross

Just two ‘representations’ of William Shakespeare have been identified as true portraits of him – both probably posthumous. Dozens have been offered to public collections and for sale as ‘authentic’. Fakes? Wishful thinking? What did he look like and why the yearning to possess a ‘true’ likeness?

The above is part of The Arts Society, Dumfries and Galloway (TASDAG) Lecture series www.tasdag.org.uk

Guests are welcome at all lectures, and at other events (applications through the website, Zoom is available for lectures) or join up as a member any time.
