University and College Campus
When visiting The Crichton in Dumfries, you’ll discover historic buildings with modern facilities set amongst beautiful and botanically interesting landscaped grounds – including a rock garden, waterfall, rose garden and ornamental pond. As well as home to a diverse range of businesses and hospitality venues, The Crichton is also home to a unique multi-institution campus offering a range of flexible full and part-time study opportunities in both Further and Higher Education. The stunning environment and diverse study options attract local, national and international students, researchers and academics to Dumfries.
Dumfries & Galloway College, The University of Glasgow (UofG), the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), The Open University in Scotland (OU) and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) all have a base here at The Crichton.
The academic insitutions work in partnership with other members of the Crichton Campus Leadership Group (CCLG) including The Crichton Trust and The Crichton Foundation to meet the educational needs of local learners and to attract new students to the region.
Dumfries & Galloway College Student Association (DGSA) represents all students studying at Dumfries & Galloway College and aims to improve the student experience through engagement in learning and teaching and by actively supporting social activities for students too. All enrolled students are members of DGSA, which has an affiliated membership of the National Union of Students (NUS).
The Crichton University Campus Student Association (CUCSA) represents university students studying at The Crichton Campus. They are the social hub for events, sports and info in Dumfries for students from The University of Glasgow and The University of the West of Scotland at The Crichton. You can find out more about CUCSA through their website: www.cucsa.org.uk
The University Town of Dumfries
The Crichton Campus is within walking distance of Dumfries town centre (just under two miles) with buses running regularly between the campus and the town. There are many bars, pubs, cafes and shops in Dumfries town centre and retail parks on the outskirts of the town too. Students in Dumfries are made very welcome and as well as enjoying the student facilities on site at The Crichton, they also feel part of the wider local and regional community in Dumfries & Galloway. Many local organisations also offer student discounts.
An email to thank you, and the Easterbrook Hall team, very much for all your assistance with arrangements (both before and on the day) for the event on Wednesday. Everything went smoothly and our guests were especially appreciative of the lovely lunch with a lot of complements following. Having help readily available for technical hitches and managing the room partition worked extremely well. It was very much a success and we look forward to our second event next year.Anne Bray, SRUC Dairy Centre and Knowledge Exchange
