Rodin: The Flight of the Soul
Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) sculptor of The Thinker represents the end of a sculptural tradition that goes back to Michelangelo and the ancient Greeks. Rodin completely revived sculpture from a period of relative stagnation and brought it into a new era.
Rodin sought to express, in an age not so dissimilar to our own, the anguish and ecstasy of the human soul as expressed through the movements of the human body.
Our lecturer will be Michael Howard a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, he also teaches at the Manchester School of Art, please join us for what will be a very interesting and informative lecture.
