Scottish musician brings home The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain
Next month, Scottish musician Laura Currie from Dumfries is bringing the four-stringed fun and musical virtuosity of The Ukulele Orchestra home for three concert dates in Scotland in 2026. A full-time member of the Orchestra since 2019, Laura has toured the world playing with the celebrated musical ensemble.
For four decades, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain has thrilled audiences from Tasmania in the South to Svalbard in the Arctic Circle, from the Sydney Opera House to Carnegie Hall with witty, irreverent, foot-stomping celebrations of rock-n-roll, post-punk and toe-tapping new songs and old classics, all played in surprising new
arrangements on the ‘bonsai guitar.’
No drums, pianos, backing tracks or banjos, no pitch shifters or electronic trickery – and most certainly no AI. Just a bunch of talented musicians, great arrangements and lots of laughter and an exciting shopping-trolley dash through ABBA to ZZ Top, Tchaikovsky to Nirvana, Lady Gaga and maybe a Spaghetti Western thrown in.
