Experience an evening of rich lyricism and sweeping chamber music with a programme of Rachmaninov’s Romance, Schumann’s Piano Quintet and Dvořák’s Piano Quintet, performed by the acclaimed Sacconi Quartet with pianist Simon Callaghan.
For over two decades, the Sacconi Quartet has captivated audiences with the unanimity of its ensemble and its fresh, imaginative approach to performance. Formed in 2001, the four founding members share a deep passion for the string quartet repertoire, bringing energy, warmth and infectious enthusiasm to audiences around the world. Their busy international career has taken them to major European venues, as well as to recording studios and radio broadcasts worldwide. The Quartet is in Association at the Royal College of Music and is Quartet in Residence for the town of Folkestone. Unchanged since its inception, the Sacconi is Britain’s longest-established string quartet.
They are joined by Simon Callaghan, a pianist of international distinction who appears regularly as both a soloist and chamber musician. Alongside a highly successful recording career, he has built a devoted following through performances in the UK’s major concert halls and on tours across Asia, North America and Europe. A favourite at Germany’s renowned Husum Festival of Piano Rarities, his recent sold-out recital was praised by VAN Magazine as “a cleverly curated recital full of discoveries” and by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as “technically brilliant.”
Together, these outstanding artists bring brilliance, depth and expressive power to three much-loved works of the chamber repertoire.
