Joe Bradley
TrusteeJoe was born in Dumfries and was a student at St Joseph’s College.
He worked for the UK Diplomatic Service for 20 years covering a range of jobs at the Foreign Office in London and at Embassies and Diplomatic Missions in Geneva, Berlin, Vienna, Lusaka, Lisbon and East Berlin.
In 2002, he joined the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. He worked initially in the WIPO Office in Brussels, strengthening partnerships with EU institutions. On his return to WIPO Headquarters in Geneva he helped develop the organization’s performance management framework and later represented WIPO at a range of UN negotiations dealing with intellectual property (IP) and technology innovation and its intersection with other policy areas such as climate change, public health and trade. Prior to retirement from WIPO in 2022, he was the Acting Director of the WIPO Academy, responsible for supporting access to IP education and training, especially for developing countries.
In addition to his work as a Trustee at the Crichton, Joe is the Vice Chair of the WIPO Committee dealing with staff and retiree health, accident and life insurance contracts.
Joe is keen to support the Crichton Trust’s ambitions to be a centre of learning and research and in driving innovation, green-tech and creative industries to support the future economy in the region.
