Absolute Classics Festival Opens Tomorrow at Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries
With all the poise and anticipation of a grand overture, the Absolute Classics Festival returns to the Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries, offering four days of musical artistry and refined cultural delight from 3 to 6 July 2025.
The festival commences on Thursday, 3 July at 7.30pm, with an exquisite recital by the internationally acclaimed violinist Jack Liebeck, joined by the distinguished pianist Simon Callaghan. Audiences will be transported by the complete cycle of Brahms’ violin sonatas, performed by artists whose reputations for technical mastery and expressive nuance are celebrated on the world stage.
The programme unfolds with a series of evening concerts, each curated to showcase the finest talents in classical music:
Friday, 4 July at 7.30pm: Simon Callaghan, Fenella Humphreys, Thomas Carroll and Julian Bliss present a compelling selection of Brahms, Beethoven and Messiaen.
Saturday, 5 July at 7.30pm: The super star cellist Brannon Cho joins the versatile pianist John Lenehan for works by Killmayer, Beethoven and Franck.
Sunday, 6 July at 2.30pm: Moscow-born virtuoso Andrey Gugnin closes the festival with a dazzling solo piano recital, featuring Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky.
Tickets are priced at £20 for adults, while those under 26 are welcomed free of charge, ensuring these performances remain accessible to all who appreciate the transformative power of live music.
