VIDEO BLOG UPDATE 5
VIDEO BLOG 5: The latest video blog published on the 25th July can be seen below.
As Government restrictions ease further, Gwilym Gibbons, Chief Executive of The Crichton Trust brings us up to date regarding changes at The Crichton in his latest video blog (see below).
Key highlights:
- Protect yourself and others: if you haven’t been on site for a while, you will notice some changes including new signage as a reminder to us all to be aware of others and to do what we can to protect ourselves and others. There is ample space and wide pathways throughout the estate, but in some areas such as the rock garden where it can get busy and has narrower paths, we would ask everyone to give more consideration to what is appropriate to keep everyone safe.
- Easterbrook Takeaway and Outdoor Bar: a new temporary catering service is now open 7 days a week from a base at Easterbrook Bistro. It offers a takeaway and outdoor dining/bar service. A limited number of tables are available indoors as and when required. Booking recommended.
- Easterbrook Hall: the difficult decision has been made to keep Easterbrook Hall closed to the public until March 2021. This is primarily due to the uncertainty surrounding our ability to safely host larger gatherings anytime soon. Easterbrook Hall will however, continue to be used where appropriate to support local organisations who are responding to the needs of the region during the pandemic.
- Tenants: we are gradually starting to see tenants returning or preparing to return to work on site. The Crichton Trust is continuing to deep clean buildings, manage shared spaces to minimise risks and hold regular meetings with tenants to help shape the future of The Crichton. Tenants should receive emails inviting them to attend.
- Governance: The Crichton Trust is also reviewing its operations and is working to a flexible 6 week plan, while looking further ahead to create a 6 month and a 6 year plan for The Crichton.
- Crichton Central: The exciting news is that The Crichton Trust has recently been awarded a significant grant from South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) and work is now well underway for our new Crichton Central co-working space in Criffel View (previously Fresco). This new facility will also have a cafe, a small shop, meeting spaces, offices, an events and performance area and a Changing Places toilet. Crichton Central is due to open early 2021.
The Chief Executive is also holding monthly Crichton Briefings on zoom and encourages all tenants, partners and stakeholders to join the conversation and to help us build back better. These meetings take place on the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm. For details click here.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the summer edition of The Crichton Magazine is out now.
