Dr David Hall
ChairmanDavid is a native of Dumfries and Galloway and has a long association with The Crichton having spent over 30 years as a Psychiatrist and Medical Manager there. During that time, he led the redesign of the local Mental Health service, culminating in the development of a new Mental Health facility at Midpark Hospital.
He has held several national Mental Health Leadership roles including National Clinical Lead for the Mental Health Collaborative, and for almost ten years till 2019, was National Clinical Lead for the Scottish Patient Safety Programme. He has gained an international reputation in Quality Improvement in Mental Health and has worked with the Danish and New Zealand Governments.
David has also held a number of roles with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is currently the RCPsych in Scotland Suicide Prevention Lead and sits on the National Suicide Prevention Leadership Group.
He is the Psychiatrist on the Board of the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland – the body which oversees the application of Mental Health legislation in Scotland and works to safeguard those subject to this legislation.
He is a Trustee of SANDS – the largest UK baby loss charity and Chairs Sands in Scotland.
David is committed to ensuring that The Crichton continues to contribute to the community locally and across Scotland in a positive and meaningful way.
