Midpark Hospital
Midpark Hospital is NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s mental health facility for in-patient care. Opened in 2012 replaces the accommodation previously provided by Crichton Royal Hospital. It provides a modern, stable and secure environment for patients requiring specialist care.
The hospital has six wards and 85 beds, located opposite the Grierson Gate entrance to The Crichton, just past The Crichton Golf Club.
The Crichton itself has a long and fascinating association with the history of mental health care. In the modern day the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) still delivers degree programmes in Mental Health Nursing at its Dumfries campus based here at The Crichton.
