DL Convener of the Crichton Foundation

The Crichton Foundation is a charitable trust which supports the creation of a world class centre for learning and enterprise in Dumfries and Galloway. Its original endowment came from the Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council and, since the Foundation was set up in 2000, all funds raised have been used to support directly its charitable objectives.

Above all, the Foundation is a bridge between the community and the university campus. It seeks to encourage interest, collboration and a shared commitment to the future of this historic site, as a vital and vibrant community asset and a significant cintributor to both the local economy and the amenities of South West Scotland.

The Foundation raises funds to:

  • widen access to higher and further education in southern Scotland and beyond;
  • assist the academic institutions on the Crichton University Campus to develop their academic programmes and facilities;
  • preserve and regenerate the heritage of the Crichton estate as a public asset, to be enjoyed by the local community; and
  • raise awareness of the importance of the Crichton University Campus for the prosperity of the local community.
